Nothing is more fickle than picking the kicker week-to-week. You want a guy on the team that moves the ball, but you don’t want your kicker putting up 4 points each week with 4 extra points. And unlike with the other positions, match-up means basically nothing. So, the only thing we have to go on is recent historical data to guide our decision making.

I recently pulled the Drop/Add trigger to add Lawrence Tynes to two of my teams. I had him replacing Garrett Hartley and Sebastian Janikowski. I certainly can't know if he is going to do better in Week 4 and beyond (no one does), but I do know that he is averaging 3-5 points more than them per week. And, I could use 3-5 more points.
And speaking of 3.33 points.....this is a quick note to all of the David Akers owners that drafted him ‘early' in their fantasy drafts. He is currently not in the Top 5 in YTD scoring and is scoring 3.33 points per game less than the points leader, Mr. Tynes. In the future, kickers should be your LAST pick of the draft.

And for those of you in leagues that give bonuses for 50+ length field goals. Only three kickers have more than one 50-yarder made: Blair Walsh (3), Stephen Gostkowski (2) and Justin Tucker (2).
