Jason Witten was listed as doubtful Tuesday for the Dallas Cowboys' season opener against the New York Giants on Wednesday, according to reports. The veteran tight end suffered a lacerated spleen in the Cowboys' preseason opener in August. He was able to return to practice Monday, though a Week 2 return appears more likely.
Jason Witten Doubtful For Opener Wednesday, Unsafe As Fantasy Starter
Jason Witten is listed as doubtful for the Cowboys’ season opener Wednesday against the Giants. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: If you own Witten, you have hopefully already prepared a contingency plan. It's very encouraging that he is back in practice, though a two-day turnaround is likely too short even for someone with Witten's tough-as-nails reputation. Witten is a Top 5 tight end by most measures, and should return to being a weekly starter with a long layoff until the Cowboys' Week 2 tilt against the Seattle Seahawks.
