Jonathan Dwyer was the first among five running backs to take reps with the first-team Pittsburgh Steelers offense during practice Wednesday, Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Along with Dwyer, Isaac Redman, Rashard Mendenhall, Baron Batch and Chris Rainey also saw carries. Mendenhall and Redman are considered the top two backs on the depth chart, but Mendenhall is still recovering from a torn ACL and Redman has been hampered by a nagging ankle injury.

Analysis: The Steelers' running back situation is an absolute nightmare for fantasy owners, to the point where they may be better off avoiding it altogether this week when Pittsburgh takes on the Denver Broncos. Long-term, Mendenhall is the back to own in Pittsburgh, though Dwyer may be the preferred handcuff with Redman's injury expected to linger into the season.
