The first glorious Sunday of the 2012 NFL season is here, which means it is truly fantasy football time! Wednesday's Giants-Cowboys game was a fine appetizer, but Sunday is what it is all about. Whether you are flipping around your Sunday Ticket, or enjoying it all on the Red Zone channel, Sunday is the greatest day of the week when summer flips to fall.
Fantasy Football Rankings 2012: RB Projections For Week 1
We provide Week 1 NFL fantasy football projections for running backs courtesy of numberFire.com.

We have been providing you with rankings all week long, but as Sunday dawns, it would be helpful to have some projections as well. Our Week 1 running back rankings are based on our pool of knowledge and often a bit of gut instinct. To improve your chances this year, we are going to provide Sunday projections courtesy of the folks at numberFire. numberFire uses series of mathematical models, to break down the action and figure out who exactly is performing well. They use the power of predictive and regressive modeling to more accurately project future performance.
numberFire's rankings are just a bit off currently with regards to Arian Foster, but will likely update as final injury information comes out this morning. Even if Foster can go today, there is a good chance Ben Tate still gets most of the carries. If the Texans build a sizable early lead as many expect, there will be no need to risk further injury to Foster.
Other than that, it is mostly about the obvious starts. The biggest difference is numberFire is showing Shonn Greene some love against the Bills defense. We at SB Nation Fantasy are not quite so high on Greene, even against the Bills, but numberFire's numbers tell them otherwise. He remains a better option than a backup or platoon back, but Greene has a lot to prove this year.
numberFire claims a higher predictive rate than the major companies (ESPN, CBS, Yahoo!). However, as with anything in fantasy football, we at SB Nation Fantasy view numberFire as one more weapon in your arsenal to claim victory. The numbers can help over the long term, but there are enough variables week-to-week that multiple sources can provide great value.
