Dolphins running back Lamar Miller took control of the backfield during a 38-17 loss to the Saints on Monday night.
Lamar Miller scores an early touchdown in blowout loss to salvage fantasy value
The Dolphins’ lead back got the majority of touches and capitalized with a touchdown in the team’s loss to the Saints. We break down the fantasy implications.

Though he usually splits touches with Daniel Thomas, Miller paved the way with 11 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown and saw the majority of his chances in the game's early stages. But when the Saints pulled ahead 35-10 midway through the third quarter, the Dolphins abandoned the run, and Miller's touches were subsequently limited. Afterward, Miller and Thomas rotated series, but neither were big factors in the receiving game.
Fantasy Spin: If the Dolphins remain competitive and if Miller can stave off Thomas for playing time, Miller could secure RB2 status as the season goes on. However, being behind by a wide margin just halfway through the game never bodes well for running backs of all skill levels in fantasy football, unless they are heavily involved in the receiving game. Miller isn't in that category, but better days could lie ahead when the Dolphins take on the Ravens, who allowed 203 rushing yards to the Bills in Week 4. Miller deserves flex consideration and has RB2 upside when that matchup comes.
