Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 6 TNF: Hakeem Nicks/Rueben Randle

Victor Cruz is an every-week must-start, but how should fantasy owners use the Giants’ second and third receivers? We break down the fantasy implications.

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY

The New York Giants have three viable fantasy wide receivers. Victor Cruz, the team's No. 1, has topped 100 yards three times this season, with a three-touchdown game and another score giving him strong overall production. Behind Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and Rueben Randle have each had big Weeks 1 and 5, with virtual absences in between. Those two receivers look to build on last week's big games Thursday night against the Chicago Bears.

Nicks had 114 receiving yards in Week 1 against the Cowboys, and went for 142 yards Sunday. In the three games between, he had 116 receiving yards total, including a complete shutdown in Week 3 when he wasn't even targeted. He is still looking for his first score on the season. Randle, meanwhile, had 101 receiving yards in Week 1, coming back with 96 yards and two scores against the Eagles Sunday. He was held to 61 yards in Weeks 2-4 combined.

Fantasy impact: It's relatively easy to dismiss any player's big yardage against the bad Philadelphia Eagles defense, especially when the next game is against a stout Bears unit. There is nothing wrong with using Nicks or Randle Thursday night, but anyone doing so expecting big production like Sunday might be a bit too optimistic.

The Giants' O-line has been so banged up that quarterback Eli Manning has seen his passing numbers diminished so far this season. Those starting Nicks or Randle can do so without embarrassment, but will be watching Thursday's game from between their fingers as they cover their eyes.
