Fantasy football projections, Week 6: Steelers vs. Jets featuring Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell and Geno Smith

Sunday's game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets features two teams with records nobody expected. We’ve got all the fantasy projections for you, courtesy of numberFire.

Coming off a bye week, the Steelers will look to get their first win of the season. Few would have guessed that to be the case prior to the start of the season, but Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman both proved inept when given the opportunity to lead the Steelers' rushing attack.

It is for that reason that the Steelers welcomed the long-awaited NFL debut of rookie running back Le'Veon Bell. Bell rushed for just 57 yards on 16 carries in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings; the good news is that two of those carries resulted in touchdowns for Bell and his fantasy owners. It also appeared that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was not afraid to throw the ball to Bell out of the backfield, adding a dimension to the team's running game that they haven't had this season.

When Roethlisberger isn't giving the ball to Bell, he will be looking to connect with receiver Antonio Brown, who was targeted a team-high 13 times in Week 4. Brown caught 12 of those passes for 88 yards and did not find the end zone, but if he sustains that level of targets regularly, it will no doubt pay dividends for his fantasy owners. In Week 6, Brown and the Steelers face a Jets pass defense that gives up the 14^th most fantasy points to wide receivers this season.

Rookie quarterback Geno Smith led his Jets to a surprising 30-28 road win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5. Smith led a last second drive that allowed kicker Nick Folk to seal the victory with a 43-yard field goal as the clock expired. He completed just 16 passes for 199 yards, but he did manage to post three passing touchdowns in a game for the first time ever in his young NFL career. Though he's not yet considered a starter by most fantasy owners, Smith is providing hope to a New York Jets franchise that was expected to be in for a rough year in 2013.

Smith will look to tight end Jeff Cumberland and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley against the Steelers once again as receivers Santonio Holmes (hamstring) and Stephen Hill (concussion) continue to work their way back from injuries. Both Cumberland and Kerley scored touchdowns in the game; Cumberland led the team in yards (78), and Kerley led the team in targets (6).

If Smith struggles to find his receivers, the Jets will rely on Bilal Powell and Mike Goodson to carry the load in the backfield. In his first game as a member of the Jets, Goodson averaged 10.7 yards per carry on just three attempts. Fantasy owners should note that Powell will still see the majority of touches, at least in the immediate future.
