Fantasy football Projections, Week 6: Panthers vs. Vikings featuring Adrian Peterson, Matt Cassel and Cam Newton
We break down the Week 6 matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings.

Carolina Panthers
Quarterback Cam Newton looked like a future Hall of Famer in the first game of his NFL career back in 2011 against the Arizona Cardinals. In that game, he threw for 422 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What a difference two seasons can make. Fast forwarding to Week 5 this season, Newton put together one of the worst fantasy performances of the year against those same Arizona Cardinals. Although he threw for over 300 yards in the game, he also tossed three interceptions and was sacked seven times in the contest, a mark that matches the career-high set last year.
Though the Panthers hope to get running back Jonathan Stewart back soon (ankles) and DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert have done a decent job running the ball, Newton will have to look to the likes of receiver Steve Smith and tight end Greg Olsen in the passing game if the Panthers hope to win. Surprisingly, Olsen is actually the team's leading receiver this year, catching 21 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown through four games.
Minnesota Vikings
Coming into this season, Adrian Peterson promised to break Eric Dickerson's record for rushing yards in a season, but so far he's not quite up to that standard. After four games this year, Peterson finds himself third in the league in that category to the Philadelphia Eagles' Lesean McCoy and the Chicago Bears' Matt Forte, though it should be noted that both McCoy and Forte have yet to sit out their bye weeks.
Peterson will no doubt have to be in top form for the Vikings against a tough Panthers run defense. The hope is that quarterback Matt Cassel will be able to take some of the pressure off of Peterson by stringing together a second consecutive solid start. In his first career start as a member of the Vikings, Cassel threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns, leading Minnesota to its first win of the year.
