Bilal Powell has quiet Sunday for fantasy owners
The Jets running back has had two down games after consecutive big outings. We break down the fantasy implications.

After consecutive 100-plus-yard outings in Week 3 and 4, New York Jets running back Bilal Powell has been held down in the team's last two outings. That includes his light game Sunday, when Powell had 30 rushing yards on nine carries and 20 receiving yards on three receptions, as the Jets lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 19-6.
Powell had 158 and 108 all-purpose yards in back-to-back games earlier in the season, but doesn’t have 100 combined in his last two games. He has one touchdown on the season.
Fantasy impact: Powell's big two weeks (three if you count his Week 2 touchdown and 70 yards) led some fantasy owners to thinking he was a viable starting option. But his downturn coincided with the returns of fellow running backs Chris Ivory (from injury) and Mike Goodson (from suspension).
Going forward, the Jets have several tough defenses coming up, with their next three games coming against New England, Cincinnati, and New Orleans, before their Week 10 bye. With bye weeks in full effect, there is the chance that Powell will be a starter in some leagues, but by and large, there’s no sense using him unless the situation is desperate.
