Daryl Richardson will not be starting in Week 5, the St. Louis Rams running back said on Twitter early Wednesday morning. Richardson responded to a fan asking him if he was going to start against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, saying "not this week man."
Daryl Richardson says he’s not starting in Week 5, fantasy value non-existent
St. Louis Rams running back Daryl Richardson says he’s not starting in Week 5. We break down the fantasy implications.

Richardson is dealing with poor play over the course of the first four games, but more importantly for his immediate status, he's dealing with a foot injury. Against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, Richardson only played two snaps. He ended up playing against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, but carried the ball just 12 times for 16 yards.
The Rams might have planned on Richardson taking an even lighter load against the 49ers, but Isaiah Pead was a surprise inactive for that game, so Richardson got the call. It's unclear if he's being demoted at all because of lacking play, but the injury is certainly the bigger factor for the time being.
Fantasy Impact: The Rams made the choice to roll with Richardson rather than re-sign Steven Jackson, and so far, it’s been a terrible move. Richardson has 114 yards and no touchdowns with a per-carry average of 2.7 yards over four games played this season. He’s a total failure for fantasy owners and this news just makes is inclusion on said fantasy owners’ rosters superfluous at best. He might work out in the future, but it’s not happening in the present.
