Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts III were blanketed in coverage Sunday by the San Diego Chargers' defense. The two combined for 138 receiving yards as the Jaguars lost, 24-6.
Justin Blackmon, Cecil Shorts underwhelm for Jaguars, fantasy owners
The Jaguars’ wide receivers were both outproduced by their rookie backup. We break down the fantasy implications.

Shorts caught eight balls on 13 targets for 80 yards Sunday after somewhat surprisingly suiting up despite dealing with injuries during the week. Blackmon, meanwhile, had only 58 yards on six receptions (nine targets).
Fantasy impact: Both receivers were significantly outgained by rookie Mike Brown, who went for 120 yards in the game. The rookie probably doesn’t have that sort of long-term fantasy impact.
Possibly more interesting is that, a week after he was targeted 20 times in the Denver Broncos game, Blackmon only had nine targets Sunday. With Shorts back healthy after leaving the Broncos game early, quarterback Chad Henne spread his looks out more in Week 7.
The Jaguars either play strong defenses or are on a bye from now until Week 15, so it’s hard to count on huge days out of either receiver going forward.
