Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez caught two passes for 30 yards in the team's 31-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7. Gonzalez was targeted just four times in the game by quarterback Matt Ryan.
Tony Gonzalez with lackluster fantasy numbers despite Falcons offensive output
The Falcons tight end was hardly involved in a game in which his team posted 31 points. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: As much as Gonzalez has been on fire in the last couple of games for the Falcons, he now has three games this year where he has finished with 36 yards receiving or less. That has to be somewhat worrisome for his fantasy owners.
Part of his inconsistent play can be attributed to the fact that the Falcons have had trouble with injuries to the team's receiving corps, namely to receivers Roddy White (hamstring) and Julio Jones (ankle) and maybe it's just been hard for him to find his place week to week.
That said, one would think that Gonzalez would benefit greatly from the absence of those two receivers as he now becomes the team’s default number-one pass catcher. The trade-off there is that he’s guaranteed to see tight coverage in on a regular basis, which may be the reason why Ryan only targeted him four times on Sunday.
