The Giants earned their first win of the season on Monday night, but fantasy owners who started Eli Manning were probably not as fortunate. We break down the fantasy implications.

Manning completed 23-of-39 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown versus the Vikings during a game that displayed an ugly showing by both teams.
Despite having the advantage of short fields on several occasions, Manning and the Giants did not capitalize and were limited to field goals for most of the night. His lone touchdown resulted from Rueben Randle beating one-on-one coverage down the sideline, which was a throw reminiscent of times when Manning was at his best.
Fantasy Spin: Manning should have smoother sailing as the season progresses with matchups versus the Eagles, Raiders, Redskins and Cowboys up ahead. It's also hard to imagine things getting worse for Manning's fantasy owners, but the high variance is what they signed up for when they drafted him. They're waiting for more of the "ups" than "downs," especially after failing to dominate during already favorable matchups versus the Broncos, Bears and now the Vikings. Manning is a desperation play going forward for fantasy owners in standard formats, and otherwise a mediocre, but high-profile QB2 option.
