Fantasy football projections, Week 8: Redskins vs. Broncos featuring Robert Griffin, Peyton Manning and Wes Welker
We break down the Week 8 matchup between the Washington Redskins and the Denver Broncos.

Washington Redskins
Quarterback Robert Griffin III is starting to look like the Robert Griffin of old. His efforts last week led the Redskins to their second win of the season over the Chicago Bears, a game in which the Redskins were able to put up 45 points on a normally stout Bears defense. Griffin scrambled out of the pocket on 11 rushes for 84 yards, both season highs. He also threw for 298 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Although he fumbled the ball and threw one interception as well, it's the closest he's come to a vintage Robert Griffin performance. He looks like he's finally confident in his surgically-repaired knee again, which is an encouraging sign for his fantasy owners.
Griffin has to be tipping his cap to his tight end Jordan Reed this week. Reed had the best game of his young career against the Bears last week, catching all of the nine balls thrown his way in the contest for a career-high 134 yards receiving and a touchdown. The performance made Reed one of the hottest pickups on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues this week and he will look to continue his success against a Denver Broncos defense that doesn't mind giving up points in the passing game.
Denver Broncos
Although the Washington Redskins may have some of their key players put up big weeks in terms of fantasy points, it will only be because they're up against quarterback Peyton Manning and the high-powered Denver Broncos. Manning and the boys in blue and orange took their first loss of the season in his return to Indianapolis. Although Manning's performance was disappointing to Broncos fans, the same can't be said for his fantasy owners who were elated in watching their quarterback throw for 386 yards and three touchdowns. Manning is the only quarterback in fantasy football that is a sure bet to perform every single week.
He will look to his wide receivers to make things happen, and the most dependable receiving option he has with regard to touchdowns is Wes Welker. Last week, Walker was held out of the end zone for the first time this season. That said, he still caught seven passes for 96 yards, which isn't too shabby for a pass catcher playing the slot position, especially on a team as stacked as the Broncos. There is no doubt Welker's fantasy owners will be looking for him to get back to his scoring ways against a porous Washington Redskins defense in Week 8.
