Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder completed 14 passes for 145 yards in a 44-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. Ponder's only touchdown of the game came on a 19-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
Christian Ponder conservative fantasy performance proves not enough
The Vikings quarterback exhibited another so-so effort against the Packers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: The final score of the game made things look a bit closer than they actually were as Ponder was clearly overmatched by the Packers’ Aaron Rodgers.
It is pretty obvious the Vikings are giving up on Ponder and he's basically auditioning to prove that he is still an NFL player these days. The team started Josh Freeman against the New York Giants in Week 7. If not for the fact he suffered a concussion in the game, Freeman would have probably kept Ponder watching on the sidelines against Green Bay.
Trusting Ponder at this point is tough and that makes any Vikings receiver a dicey play going forward. In fact, even with Freeman under center, fantasy owners should probably steer clear of the quarterbacks in Minnesota. The Vikings play on the road against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9.
