New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes may not be able to make his return in Week 9, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. According to Cimini, the Jets are not "overly optimistic" about Holmes' chances to return from his hamstring injury in time, meaning he would be inactive until a Week 11 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, since the team has a bye week in Week 10.
Santonio Holmes might not be ready for Week 9, fantasy owners should be cautious
New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes might not be ready for Week 9. We break down the fantasy implications.

Holmes has only managed to play in four games this season, catching 10 passes for 243 yards and one touchdown. When he did play, he showed some impressive play-making ability, but hasn't played since a Week 4 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Since then, Jeremy Jerley has established himself as the top receiver in New York, and despite a couple strong games, has been ineffective as a whole. Stephen Hill has fallen off in recent weeks as well, so the Jets really need Holmes back sooner rather than later.
Fantasy Impact: Whether they need him or not, hamstring injuries are nothing to fool around with. Fantasy owners may get some solid production out of Holmes down the stretch so they should hang on to him if they haven’t already released him. As far as starting him this week is concerned: we’ll definitely need to see what the Friday injury report says before we make any decisions, but he could be limited even if he does play.
