The Minnesota Vikings didn’t name a starting quarterback for Week 9 on Monday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ponder’s start did not go well. He was totally ineffective against one of the worst secondaries in the NFL, completing 14 of 21 passes for 145 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Freeman started the previous week, and played an even worse game, though it was just a week after beginning work with the Minnesota playbook, as the team signed him as a free agent.
Freeman completed just 20 of 53 pass attempts for 190 yards with no touchdowns and an interception in his start. He was named the starter for Week 9, and a day later the team announced he had a concussion. It was a surprising announcement to be sure, but it probably has nothing to do with Freeman’s play.
Fantasy Impact: Fantasy owners hopefully have a better quarterback situation than one that has them making a decision that depends on whether or not the Vikings will start Ponder or Freeman. Both quarterbacks are bad and won’t lead the Vikings to any meaningful wins, more than likely. If you happen to have them both and need to play one of them, all you can do is wait at this point. It should be clear once we see who is taking the starting reps in practice.
