Cecil Shorts returns to Thursday’s practice, fantasy owners can exhale
The Jaguars top receiver, as well as the NFL’s leader in targets, returned to Thursday’s practice after injuring his groin on Wednesday. We break down the fantasy implications.

This is good news for Shorts and for the Jaguars, who held their collective breath after Shorts went down with a groin injury in practice on Wednesday. It bodes well that he was able to return to practice at some capacity the following day, but his status should become clearer after the team’s final practice of the week on Friday.
Fantasy Spin: If there was a week that owners would want to get Shorts into their lineups, it's this one, as the Rams defense has given up over 30 points in their last three games. Shorts will also benefit from Justin Blackmon in the lineup, despite him cutting into Shorts' league-leading 51 targets over four games. Because of the extra attention he will garner, Shorts' chances of cashing in are good, despite likely not being force-fed the ball as he was in previous games.
Of course, the elephant in the room is quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who has been fantasy poison for everyone in the Jaguars offense, but Shorts' upside remains in a potentially big Week 5 matchup.
