Fantasy football rankings, Week 9: WR rankings for PPR, standard leagues
Check out where we rank Marvin Jones, Harry Douglas and others in our Week 9 Wide Receiver rankings. Check out our rankings before submitting your lineups this week.

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson showed us why he is the best wide receiver in the game this week. Johnson caught 14 of his 16 targets for a whopping 329 yards and a touchdown in the Lions unlikely come from behind win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Johnson was about only a few yards from scoring on a 90+ yard touchdown reception early in the game, but had to settle for an 87 yard reception. For the season, Johnson now has 47 receptions for 831 yards and 7 touchdowns. He has scored in five of his seven games this season, and gone over the 100 yard mark in four of those games.
The player I thought could overtake Johnson as the league’s best wide receiver also had a good game, but the Cowboys have a tough time getting him the ball more for some reason. Cowboys WR Dez Bryant caught three of his six targets for 72 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys loss to the Lions. Bryant now has 45 receptions for 641 yards and eight touchdowns this season, and has scored in five of his eight games.
Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones will be the most added wide receiver via the waiver wire this week after his unbelievable four touchdown performance on Sunday. Jones caught all eight of his targets for 122 yards and four touchdowns in the Bengals 49-9 thrashing of the New York Jets on Sunday. Coming into the game he had just 16 receptions for 247 yards and three touchdowns.
Atlanta Falcons WR Harry Douglas is now Matt Ryan's main target in the passing game, as he was targeted 18 times in the Falcons 27-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Douglas caught 12 balls for 121 yards and no touchdowns on Sunday. Douglas has now gone over the 100 yard mark in each to the last two weeks.
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon ended up not getting dealt at the deadline. He did what he could to improve his trade value prior to it by catching five of his ten targets for 132 yards and a touchdown in the Browns 23-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Gordon now has 32 receptions for 582 yards and three touchdowns in the six games he has played this season, including three games where he went over the 100 yard mark.
Target Practice
Cowboys WR Terrance Williams and Jets WR David Nelson are a couple guys you want to watch in the next week or so, as they are becoming bigger parts of their respective team’s passing games. Williams has now scored a touchdown in each of his last four games and is a must start going forward.
The same holds true for Harry Douglas who I mentioned previously.

Good grief!! The pickings are limited this week with some of the top wide receivers in the game on bye in Week 9, including Calvin Johnson, Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Eric Decker, Larry Fitzgerald, Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, Justin Blackmon, Cecil Shorts, just to name a few.
If you are looking for some wide receivers to pick up off the waiver wire, make sure you check out our Top 5 Waiver Wire WRs for Week 9.
The chart below lists the teams that give up the most fantasy points to wide receivers through Week 8, with the Bills giving up more than 33 points per game to opponents wide receivers. The Bills overtake the Eagles this week, after giving up five touchdown passes at the hands of New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees. The Cowboys pass defense is looking to bounce back after giving up over 500 yards passing to Lions QB Matt Stafford in Week 8.
