Fantasy football projections, Week 5: Jaguars vs. Rams features Justin Blackmon, Maurice Jones-Drew, Sam Bradford

The Week 5 matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and St. Louis Rams features two teams that have struggled mightily this season. We've got fantasy projections for you, courtesy of numberFire.

A recent report indicates that the Jaguars are interested in re-signing their feature running back, Maurice Jones-Drew. However, they may not be in too big of a rush since the 28-year-old former fantasy stud is averaging just 2.4 yards per carry after four games this season. Though fantasy owners might be disappointed at that fact, he plays for the worst team in football, and quarterback Blaine Gabbert and receiver Cecil Shorts aren't sustaining enough of a threatening air attack to open up room on the ground.

The good news for the Jaguars is that they will have star wide receiver Justin Blackmon in the lineup. Blackmon will make his season debut after serving a four-game suspension to start the year for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. In the last 10 weeks of last season, Blackmon ranked in the top 15 among all fantasy wide receivers in production. Fantasy owners can count on Blackmon getting a heavy number looks as the Jaguars will most likely be playing from behind as usual, even against the equally subpar Rams.

Rams running back Daryl Richardson announced via his own twitter account earlier this week that he will not start for fantasy owners against the Jaguars. One could argue that such an announcement was not necessary, considering the young rookie running back was only averaging 2.7 yards per carry through the first four games of the season. Teammate Isaiah Pead will take over in the starting role for the Rams, but he hasn't done much better, averaging just three yards per carry, albeit on just seven rush attempts.

Since neither the Jaguars or the Rams possess much of a rushing game, the difference maker in the game will most likely be Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, who will try to pick apart the Jaguars lackluster defense by hooking up with tight end Jared Cook. After connecting with Bradford for 141 yards and two touchdowns in the opening game of the season, Cook has been held under 50 yards receiving in each of the last three weeks to the chagrin of fantasy owners. There is no doubt he'll have to put together bigger performances for the Rams to start winning consistently; the game against the lowly Jaguars might be just what the doctor ordered.
