Caroline Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith was held in check in the Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals with only four receptions for 60 yards and no touchdowns. Smith has suffered from some drops this season, including dropping a touchdown pass in this game. He has been disappointing thus far for fantasy owners with only one touchdown on the year, and this was his biggest receiving game to date. He is averaging 40.6 receiving yards per game and isn't being used in the run game at all.
Steve Smith held in check for fantasy owners in Week 5
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith was held in check in Week 5 with only four receptions for 60 yards in the loss to the Arizona Cardinals. We bring you the fantasy implications here.

Fantasy impact: Smith should have a bounce-back game in Week 6 but he has been a big disappointment so far. The Panthers offense should have a much better performance against a Minnesota Vikings defense that has allowed some generous stats. Smith is still the most targeted of the Panthers' receivers but he is third behind Greg Olsen and Ted Ginn Jr. in receiving stats. Unless Smith really starts to take off, he is headed toward matchup start territory. The Vikings secondary is mediocre so fantasy owners should start him with confidence in Week 6. That confidence may change in subsequent weeks.
