San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis was targeted six times and caught three passes for 88 yards and a touchdown in the team's 34-3 win against the Houston Texans in Week 5. Davis is second on the team in receiving yards, with teammate Anquan Boldin leading the way in that category.
Vernon Davis scores again for fantasy owners
The 49ers tight end scored his fourth touchdown of the season in Week 5 against the Texans. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: If not for a 64-yard touchdown in the game, Davis’ fantasy production at the end of the night would have been sub-par for his owners. The 49ers return touchdown for an interception and were able to score twice on the ground, so they didn’t really need to throw the football.
What might be more worrisome for Davis’ fantasy owners is that he has only managed eight catches in the last three games combined. Part of that may have to do with the fact that Davis was battling a quad injury earlier this season, and also with the fact that the 49ers now have a proven number one receiver in Boldin that can take the load off of Davis.
Nonetheless, Davis is still a target in the red zone and is putting up points with the looks that he has been getting. Going into Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals, Davis might be a good play as quarterback Colin Kaepernick will be up against a tough defense and may look to do Davis as a safety valve in the game.
