Miles Austin back at practice Wednesday, fantasy value still unclear for Week 6

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin is back at practice on Wednesday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ronald Martinez

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin is practicing with the team on Wednesday, according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. Austin will likely be officially listed as a limited participant in the practice, but it's progress nonetheless. It's his first practice since injuring his hamstring in a Sept. 22 win over the St. Louis Rams.

Since that win, the Cowboys have went on to lose to the San Diego Chargers in Week 4 and the Denver Broncos in Week 5. There has been worry surrounding Austin and his injury because he has dealt with extensive hamstring issues in the past, though the Cowboys have claimed this injury is unrelated to previous woes.

Austin seems likely to be on track to play in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins, but we'll know more when the official injury report releases on Friday. In three games this season, Austin has caught 15 passes for 125 yards with no touchdowns. He was under-performing before sustaining his injury.

Fantasy Impact: Terrance Williams, a rookie, has played extremely well in Austin's spot these past two weeks. He caught seven passes for 71 yards against the Chargers and four passes for 151 yards, including an 82-yard touchdown, against the Broncos.

Austin may end up taking his spot back in Week 6, but given his past issues with his hamstring, he could easily be limited, and the Cowboys wouldn’t shy away from putting Williams ahead of him on the depth chart if that seems like the best option for the team.
