Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder will make his second-straight start on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced on Friday. Ponder has been competing with Josh Freeman and to a lesser extent, Matt Cassel.
Christian Ponder to start for Vikings, fantasy value very low
Christian Ponder will start for the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9. We break down the fantasy implications.

The latter doesn’t seem to offer much scoring potential while the former still might not have a complete grasp on the offense, so the team believes that Ponder will give them the best chance of winning, at least in the interim. Ponder didn’t look the part in Week 8 however. He completed 14 of 21 passes for 145 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
Ponder not throwing interceptions is a good sign, though. He has two touchdowns and five picks this season, which is the biggest reason the team switched from him in the first place. Smart money is on the Vikings switching to Freeman full-time unless Ponder has a big game on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact: If you're in a two-QB league, there are ... still better options than Ponder. He just doesn't have much upside at this point, and at worst, he does absolutely nothing for you if you choose to start him. Someone like Jason Campbell is a better pickup at this point. Freeman might even be better once the team figured out that Ponder isn't going to win them any games. The Vikings are 0-4 with Ponder at the helm this season.
