Arizona Cardinals running back Rashard Mendenhall is listed as probable to face the Houston Texans on Sunday. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday before putting in a full one on Friday.
Rashard Mendenhall injury update: Fantasy value is dropping, while Andre Ellington is surging
Rashard Mendenhall should be in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Texans. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Cardinals haven’t been using their new running back much as the season has progressed. They were using him in all forms of positions, lining him up on the outside, in the slot and obviously in the backfield.
His carries have dropped in each of his last three games and the Cardinals may finally be sick of his 3.1 yards per carry on the season.
Meanwhile, Andre Ellington's workload has been ramped up. He had a career game of 154 yards and a score on 15 carries. The Cardinals are going to give him more playing time this week and Mendy will be more of a secondary guy.
Fantasy impact: If you want to cut Mendenhall to pick up a hot add like Texans running back Dennis Johnson, go for it. Andre Ellington is more of an RB2 this week at home.
