Rivers was facing on of the absolute worst secondaries in the league, and though Peyton Manning was expected to match him blow-for-blow, a big game was expected of Rivers nonetheless.

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had a disappointing day against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, despite no interceptions and a close game. We break down the fantasy implications.

Things didn’t work out quite as planned. Rivers completed 19 of 29 passes for 218 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. That’s clearly not an awful stat line, but multiple touchdowns against that secondary is virtually a guarantee at this point in the season, so his day was disappointing in the end.
The Charger lost that game, 28-20. Rivers has completed 232 of 324 passes for 2,691 yards and 18 touchdowns against seven interceptions. It’s been a good season to be sure, with a completion percentage of 71.6. Sunday’s game didn’t help his stats too much, however.
Fantasy Impact: Rivers has been an admirable performer in fantasy this year, made all the more impressive by his depleted group of receivers. Fantasy owners have to be pleased with some of the performances he’s put together,although he hasn’t thrown for more than two touchdowns since Week 4, and has tosses only one score in three of his last four games.
