There were two lines of thought entering the New York Jets' game Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. The first said that the Jets, who have alternated wins and losses this season, were sure to lose, as they won their last game. The other said that the Jets, coming off their bye, were sure to win, as it was an odd-numbered week.
Geno Smith has miserable day for Jets, fantasy owners
The Jets quarterback continued his Jekyll-and-Hyde game with an abysmal showing against Buffalo. We break down the fantasy implications.

Whether it's a pattern or just a hard-to-predict team, the Jets did end up losing Sunday, 37-14, with the play of quarterback Geno Smith being a primary reason for the failure. Smith completed only 8 of his 23 pass attempts in the game for 103 yards, and threw three interceptions against no touchdowns. Smith also fumbled twice, losing one of them.
Fantasy impact: More so than any other quarterback, Smith’s season and the Jets’ have gone hand-in-hand; in the team’s five wins, he has averaged 18 fantasy points a game, while in the five losses, he has averaged 2.4. That up-and-down trend makes Smith almost unusable in fantasy, unless owners feel there really is something to the every-other-week trend beyond simple randomness.
His passing yards have fallen for three straight games, as well. It might not be his fault, as there haven’t been many healthy Jets on offense, but still, there isn’t much to like about Smith’s fantasy stock going forward.
