Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles had a solid game on Sunday, though the team suffered its first defeat of the season. The Chiefs fell to the Broncos, 27-17, but it wasn't for lack of effort on Charles' part. He carried the ball 16 times and made the most out of those carries, picking up 78 yards.
Jamaal Charles has decent day for Chiefs, fantasy owners
Jamaal Charles had a productive day on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. We break down the fantasy implications.

That’s an average of 4.9 yards per carry, which is stellar. Quarterback Alex Smith managed five carries for 52 yards, but Charles was more effective in the end. Unfortunately, the Chiefs we playing from behind for the entirety of the game, and couldn’t put the ball in Charles’ hands as much as they wanted.
Smith attempted 45 passes on the day, which is definitely high for a quarterback who is more about ball control and keeping the team free of turnovers. Maybe if the Chiefs had to go back, they would have stuck with it and given Charles the ball more. Expecting Smith to throw 45 times in a game is just not a smart gameplan, even if he didn’t throw a pick.
Fantasy Impact: Charles has been productive this season, and he’s managed to stay relatively healthy. His low on the season was 55 yards back in Week 2, but he’s only managed more than 100 yards once this season. Still, he’s had at least 70 yards in each of his last five games, and is usually able to tack on a bunch of receiving yardage. He didn’t do that one Sunday, but all in all, it was a decent day for Charles.
