New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is a common name to pop up when listening to the laments of struggling fantasy owners. As a mid-round investment in fantasy drafts, Nicks has not lived up to those expectations, let alone the ones of a late-rounder. The big-bodied, physical receiver has logged just five double-digit games in PPR leagues and has yet to find the end zone all season.
Fantasy Football start/sit advice, Week 12: Hakeem Nicks faces a porous Cowboys defense
Hakeem Nicks has been maddening for fantasy owners this season, but is presented with a great opportunity in Week 12 versus the Dallas Cowboys. We break down the fantasy implications.

This week, the trajectory arrow looked to be pointing upward for Nicks, but an injury prevented hype from building for his matchup versus the Dallas Cowboys' putrid pass defense. Nicks missed Wednesday's practice with an abdominal injury but returned on Thursday and looks to be on the course to play Sunday. Though his injury is not considered serious, it's yet another factor working against the inconsistent receiver.
Fantasy Spin: It’s perfectly reasonable for fantasy owners to be frustrated with Nicks, but even with his lamentable play and being at less than full health working against him, his matchup versus the Dallas Cowboys is too favorable to pass on. The Cowboys’ have allowed an NFL-worst average of 313 passing yards per game in addition to 20 passing touchdowns.
It’s the most favorable matchup Nicks will have all season, and if there’s a chance for him to right the ship, it’s now. It’s worth mentioning that Nicks caught five passes for 114 yards in Week 1 versus the Cowboys, which stands as his second-highest single-game receiving total this season. Despite the headaches, fantasy owners can feel better this week than in others when penning him into the WR3 slot.
