The Week 12 matchup between the San Diego Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs is an important divisional battle. We've got all the fantasy projections for you courtesy of numberFire.
San Diego Chargers
Quarterback Philip Rivers has been consistently putting up heavy passing yards this season. He's done well in that category in two of the last three weeks. The bad news for the Chargers is they lost all three of those games. Rivers has three interceptions during that stretch, and he'll be up against a Chiefs defense that has been dominant this year. Since the game is in Kansas City, Rivers could be in for a long game on Sunday.
If he is to have success in the game, he'll have to reconnect with rookie wide receiver Keenan Allen. Allen was absolutely on fire for the Chargers in the month of October, scoring three touchdowns and catching well over 300 yards. He's slowed down in the last two weeks, catching a total of seven passes for 86 yards. He will be shadowed by Eric Berry and the rest of the Chiefs secondary in the game. The Chargers success in the contest will depend on Rivers' ability to find Allen despite the coverage.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs aren't exactly the type of team that stands out from a fantasy perspective. They don't have a ton of offensive weapons, which means they will rely on running back Jamaal Charles against the Chargers. Charles hasn't scored a touchdown in the team's last three games and was held to only 78 yards rushing by the Denver Broncos last week.
If Charles is having a tough time, quarterback Alex Smith will have to spread the ball around to a number of receivers to make things work in the air. Dwayne Bowe, Donnie Avery and Dexter McCluster will all no doubt see their share of targets against the Chargers. McCluster has some value in point per reception leagues but in general neither of the three receivers is counted on in most leagues for production. Bowe in particular has been a disappointment this year.
