Miles Austin injury: Cowboys WR probable, iffy fantasy prospect

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin is listed as probable for the team's Week 12 NFC East matchup with the New York Giants. Austin is dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of the last three games, and also caused him to miss two games earlier in the season on top of that.

Austin has had significant hamstring issues in the past, so it was no shock when he started to miss time due to this recent aggravation. The Cowboys insisted the injury was different than the previous injury, but it's been significant nonetheless. He didn't catch a pass in the last two games he played in, against the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles.

Austin's last catch came against the St. Louis Rams on Sept. 22. He had two receptions for 22 yards in that game. His best performance of the season came in the season opener against the Giants, when he caught 10 passes for 72 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Most fantasy owners have released Austin by now. Early in the season, it looked as though Terrance Williams had taken Austin's role for good, but Williams has struggled in recent weeks. It's speculated that Austin is nearing his last chance to make things happen and keep a starting role before the Cowboys determine his contract is too pricey for his performance.
