The Week 12 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers features two iffy quarterback situations. We've got all the fantasy projections for you courtesy of numberFire.
Minnesota Vikings
Fantasy owners everywhere might be surprised to know that coach Leslie Frazier is sticking with Christian Ponder in Week 12. Ponder was benched in the fourth quarter of the team's loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week. Ponder completed 13 passes in the contest and did throw a touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball once. Although the Packers defense doesn't compare to the Seahawks, he'll need to do better.
Perhaps running back Adrian Peterson can help save the day for the Vikings. Purple Jesus has had 20 or more carries in each of the last three games. That did lead to big results against the Cowboys two weeks ago when he scored twice and finished with 140 yards rushing. That said he's been held to less than 4.0 yards per carry in the last two games. While Peterson shouldn't get the blame for his limited numbers this season on a struggling team, fantasy owners are hoping for him to bounce back big against the Packers.
Green Bay Packers
After proclaiming a while ago that he'd play in Week 12, it turns out that quarterback Aaron Rodgers (broken collarbone) will sit out the game against the Vikings in favor of teammate Scott Tolzien. Though Rodgers does feel comfortable throwing the ball and thinks he's ready to go, doctors have advised there is a high enough risk of reaggravating the injury that he should sit out at least another week. For what it's worth, Tolzien threw for 339 yards against the New York Giants last week. That said, he also tossed three interceptions in the game and needs to work on his accuracy.
If he can't beat the lacking secondary of the Vikings for touchdowns, Tolzien will undoubtedly hand the ball off to Eddie Lacy. Lacy will need to put together a bounce-back performance for his team after rushing for just 27 yards on 14 carries against the Giants last week. His saving grace in the game was a fourth quarter touchdown. In general, Lacy has been as good if not better than the team expected from a young rookie runner, so hopefully Week 11 was just a bump in the road for Lacy owners.
