Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew had been barely fantasy relevant for several weeks, getting just enough points to be a defensible play by hook or by crook. Sunday, Jones-Drew managed his production by hook and by crook, scoring a touchdown and notching season-high production in both rushing and receiving yards. It was Jones-Drew's best effort since September of 2012 as the Jaguars beat the Houston Texans, 13-6.

Jones-Drew had a touchdown on a 1-yard rush early in the first quarter of the game. All five of his touchdowns on the season have come on rushes of six or fewer yards, so the short early score didn’t herald much that his other scores hadn’t. Jones-Drew, however, ended up with 84 rushing yards on 14 carries and 60 receiving yards on six receptions to complement the touchdown.
Fantasy impact: Jones-Drew’s 20 fantasy points Sunday were his highest total of the season by seven points. It was the first game he has had all season that called to mind the once-dominant running back.
Going forward, it’s still hard to imagine Jones-Drew can be trusted as an obvious RB2, but he has now scored double-digit fantasy points five times this year, and four times in his last six games. You could do way worse.
