When quarterback Matt Flynn left the Green Bay Packers as a free agent after the 2011 season, it was for supposedly greener pastures. Those green pastures quickly turned into journeyman roles, as Flynn lost jobs first to Russell Wilson in Seattle, then Terrelle Pryor in Oakland. After a brief stint in Buffalo, Flynn rejoined the Packers a few weeks ago and, after a productive appearance coming in for Scott Tolzien on Sunday, it looks like Flynn will get another chance at the helm Thursday as the Packers take on the Detroit Lions in a Thanksgiving game.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 13: Matt Flynn
The Packers quarterback has never been relevant when he’s been a non-Packer. But now, he’s a Packer again, so will he be relevant again? We break down the fantasy implications.

Flynn scored 14 fantasy points in Week 12 despite not entering the game until the Packers' second drive of the second half. He threw for 218 yards and a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings, who have given up the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks so far this season. The Lions also tend to be fairly generous to quarterbacks, allowing 17 points per game.
Fantasy impact: This might be Flynn's last chance at an NFL career, as normal starter Aaron Rodgers is fast on his way back from injury, so if Flynn wants to prove he can be a pro quarterback, it's basically Thursday or never.
Luckily for Flynn, his biggest career game came against the Lions with Jordy Nelson as his primary target. Those are soft factors, but hey, it's not like Flynn has a huge career of sample sizes to draw from.
With all 32 teams active again for the first time since Week 3, Flynn isn't any kind of surefire starter. But for those who have struggled through without Rodgers or, for example, Jay Cutler, Flynn has the potential to at least not destroy a fantasy roster. He's only in start if you're desperate territory, but the upside could be high.
