No running back in the NFL who has stayed healthy has been as disappointing as Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson this season. A first-round pick in almost all fantasy leagues, Richardson is on pace for barely 750 rushing yards on the season, on 3.1 yards per carry, and has only two touchdowns so far. Sunday, Richardson hopes to improve on those numbers as the Colts face division rival Houston Texans.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 9: Trent Richardson
The Colts running back has been hugely disappointing so far this season. Can he improve on that Sunday? We break down the fantasy implications.

Richardson, acquired by the Colts after Week 2 for a first-round draft pick, hasn't topped 60 rushing yards in a game all season. With Colts running backs Vick Ballard and Ahmad Bradshaw both lost for the year, Donald Brown has been Richardson's backup, and has almost six yards a carry on his 33 carries on the season, notching 195 rushing yards and a score. Brown's offensive attention has increased over the last few weeks as Richardson has struggled.
Fantasy impact: The Colts are facing a Texans team that has been very disappointing this season, including a defense that is 24th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed. With starting wide receiver Reggie Wayne lost for the year, the Colts might be looking to establish the power run even more than they had before, and will really be need Richardson to be the player everyone thought he was entering the season.
With six teams on a bye, it’s unlikely fantasy owners have multiple options superior to RIchardson sitting around. He’ll be a fine RB2 option in the majority of leagues.
