Fantasy football projections, Week 9: Chargers vs. Redskins featuring Philip Rivers, Robert Griffin and Jordan Reed

The Week 9 matchup between the San Diego Chargers and the Washington Redskins should feature plenty of offense for fantasy owners. We've got all the fantasy football projections for you courtesy of numberFire.

Quarterback Philip Rivers is having a bounce-back year for fantasy owners. The veteran has 15 touchdown passes compared to just five interceptions this year and hasn't turned the ball over since throwing three picks against the Oakland Raiders in Week 5. He's found a number one receiver in Keenan Allen despite all the team's injury troubles at the position in 2013. The rookie pass catcher has at least one touchdown and 100 receiving yards in two of the last three games.

In the running game, Ryan Mathews will try to rush for over 100 hundred yards for the third time in a row against the Redskins. Accomplishing the feat would match a career-high. Fantasy owners have to love the increase in production as the veteran running back broke the 70-yard plateau just once prior to the team's past two games.

Robert Griffin III managed to keep the team somewhat close to the Denver Broncos in Week 8, but his legs just don't look the same. On separate scrambles out of the pocket, Griffin had a nose tackle reach him, and got run down by Broncos linebacker Von Miller. Although Miller is very good in his own right, he was a fair distance from Griffin on the play. Griffin's knee issues reflect in his fantasy stats, as the sophomore quarterback threw for just 132 yards against a Broncos defense that doesn't mind giving up fantasy points to passers.

The Redskins will look to rookie tight end Jordan Reed to try and keep up with the Chargers. On paper, all signs point to Reed having a big game as he's been one of the hottest waiver wire additions on fantasy teams in the last two weeks. That's even before the fact that he's going up against a Chargers defense that loves giving up fantasy points to tight end. Reed was targeted a season-high 14 times against the Broncos in Week 8.
