Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christan Ponder will make his second consecutive start on Sunday, the team announced on Friday. Ponder has been competing with Josh Freeman and to a lesser extent, Matt Cassel.
Christian Ponder will play Sunday, fantasy value very low
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder will play on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ponder started in Week 8 and played poorly, completing 14 of 21 passes for 145 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He’s thrown two touchdowns and five interceptions all season, which is why he lost his job to Cassel in the first place. The team went out and signed Freeman, who played the previous week, but sustained a concussion.
It seems as though Ponder is getting another start because they realized Freeman doesn’t have a complete grasp of the offensive playbook, as evidences by his abysmal game in his Minnesota debut. Ponder will likely get the chance to earn more playing time going forward, but anything less than a huge performance will likely lead to Freeman taking over.
Fantasy Impact: Ponder isn’t exactly a strong fantasy option at this point. If you’re in a two-QB league, then you might be forced explore other QBs of his caliber but at this point, almost all of them are better options than him at this point. It’s hard to recommend starting him in any situation.
