Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez has had a quiet couple weeks for the team, even in the wake of injury absences for the team's star wide receivers, Julio Jones and Roddy White. Gonzalez broke that trend early Sunday, catching five passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in the first half as the Falcons trail the Carolina Panthers 14-10 through two quarters.
Tony Gonzalez gives fantasy owners 77 first-half yards and a score
The veteran tight end rewarded his owners’ faith with a big first half Sunday against the Panthers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Gonzalez caught a 17-yard touchdown pass on the Falcons' first play after the two-minute warning, the first time all season the Panthers have given up a first-half touchdown. It was Gonzalez' first touchdown since the Falcons' Week 4 game against the New England Patriots.
Fantasy impact: It stood to reason that Gonzalez would see his numbers rise with the team’s other pass-catchers out, which is why it was weird to see him limited to five catches and 56 yards combined in his last two games. So 77 yards and a touchdown through one half was nice for owners who held the faith to see.
Going forward, Gonzalez is still a top-five fantasy tight end, even once White returns, which could be in the next week or two.
