Early in the season, New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins was a crucial part of the team's offense. Sunday, he is a healthy scratch, as the Patriots have decided Thompkins is below far more options now.
Kenbrell Thompkins a healthy scratch Sunday; fantasy value evaporating
The rookie wide receiver has been sliding down the depth chart, and is inactive Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

With tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Danny Amendola missing time to injury, Thompkins was targeted 14 times in week one, and had four touchdowns in four games in Weeks 3-7. But with the stars' returns, the acquisition of Austin Collie, the development of Aaron Dobson, and the continued presence of Julian Edelman, Thompkins fell to only 14 snaps on the field a week ago, and won't see the field Sunday.
Fantasy impact: The rookie had 127 yards in Week 4, but didn’t top 47 yards in any of his other seven games, despite being second on the team in targets to Edelman.
Barring further injury to the team’s pass-catchers -- always a possibility -- Thompkins’ value in fantasy has almost completely eroded, and he’s worth dropping on rosters that need the space.
