Mike Brown could be a sneaky pickup in deep fantasy leagues.
They still have Cecil Shorts, who is going to be a target monster, but beyond that they’re going to need to find someone to fill the void left by Blackmon.
Mike Brown is shaping up to be the main guy in two-wide sets. He is an esoteric player as a 24-year-old undrafted second-year receiver, but he's starting to make a splash this season. Before Jacksonville's bye last week, he scored the first touchdown of his career, finishing with three catches for 43 yards against a stout 49ers defense. Before that, he had his coming-out party with 120 receiving yards on eight targets and five receptions against the Chargers.
Besides Blackmon and Shorts, the only other receiver who saw a target was Ace Sanders two weeks ago. Sanders can't get open and he's drawn some comparisons to Brian Quick in St. Louis for lack of route running.
Fantasy impact: If fantasy football was only about opportunity, Brown would be owned in every league. The Jaguars are going to have to play from behind, and they don't have a tight end who can stay healthy or any sort of legitimate slot threat. This upcoming week, they get the Titans. Cornerback Alterraun Verner has been one of the best in the league and will be on Cecil Shorts, so Brown might get plenty of targets. You could do worse in a deep league.
