Wind could be a factor during Bears vs. Browns, fantasy owners take notice

With six games being played indoors this week, fantasy owners with Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns on their team find themselves in a tougher situation. We break down the fantasy implications.

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Winds of 16 miles-per-hour are expected to blow through FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday when the Chicago Bears take on the Cleveland Browns.

The Bears are well-accustomed to playing in such conditions, and last week's Monday night matchup versus the Dallas Cowboys is the latest example. In winds of 14 miles per hour, the Bears continued their balanced attack, as Josh McCown continued to sling the ball effectively. McCown finished the evening completing 27-of-36 passes for 348 yards and four passing touchdowns. As for the Cowboys, Tony Romo attempted just 20 passes during a game where his team barely controlled the ball.

Fantasy Spin: Though the weather presents less than comfortable conditions for fantasy owners making their playoff push, there is no reason to sit the plethora of high-upside receivers in this game. Blustery conditions may knock a few players down the ladder, but it remains the case that players can still put up plenty of fantasy points in less than favorable conditions (see: Lions vs. Eagles in Week 14).

Fantasy owners would be playing with fire to sit players like Josh Gordon, Alshon Jeffery or Brandon Marshall, who remain WR1s for Week 15. Jay Cutler remains a low-end QB1 with upside, but presents the risk of rust after missing so much time. With the fantasy playoffs in full swing, tinkering and over-thinking lineup changes can doom seasons for fantasy owners. The old adage of "start your studs" can be applied once again this week.
