Miami Dolphins tight end Charles Clay entered Sunday coming off his best game of the season. He followed that up with his worst of the season, as Clay couldn't manage even a single fantasy point in the Dolphins' 24-20 win over the New England Patriots.
Charles Clay has a miserable day for Dolphins, fantasy owners
It’s been a strong season for the Dolphins tight end, but he could have easily not shown up at all Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

After 97 receiving yards, two touchdowns and 21 fantasy points for Clay a week ago -- putting him at No. 5 among fantasy tight ends -- he had only one catch for six yards against New England. It was his worst game of the year; he had only one catch for seven yards in Week 7 against the Buffalo Bills, but that one catch was for a touchdown.
Fantasy impact: It's tough to judge Clay too harshly because of this one game; he's been a pretty consistent performer all year, at least as far as tight ends go. The Patriots have shown an ability to shut down opposing tight ends when they want to (see their efforts against Jimmy Graham of the New Orleans Saints in Week 6), so it's possible they were specifically game-planning against Clay in light of his huge performance a week ago. Regardless, no need to give up on Clay after just this one bad game.
