T.Y. Hilton finally offers fantasy owners some moderate production

After a horrible stretch of games, the Colts receiver was finally decent Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton finally got back to the good side of the ledger -- somewhat -- on Sunday, after several rough games in a row. Hilton was the Colts' leading receiver in Indianapolis' 25-3 win over the Houston Texans.

Hilton had only 135 receiving yards and 11 fantasy points in his last four games combined entering Sunday, but caught eight passes for 78 yards against Houston, his fifth-most receiving yards of the year.

Behind Hilton, second-year wide receiver Griff Whalen had his best game in the NFL, catching four passes for 45 yards and a touchdown, a 14-yard connection with quarterback Andrew Luck that kicked off the game's scoring. Tight end Coby Fleener, who had played himself into TE1 fantasy consideration lately, was shut out completely, with no catches and only one target.

Fantasy impact: After several weeks of awfulness, Hilton was finally not-awful Sunday, which is really all you can say -- you don’t want to have to get too excited about 78 yards from a supposed No. 1 receiver. Still, if he can keep this up, Hilton stands to be at least a decent flex play down the stretch.

Meanwhile, after a huge game in Week 14, Da'Rick Rogers came back to earth with only two catches for 23 yards. It's another lesson in not overvaluing one game, which anyone who wants to buy in on Whalen for next week should keep in mind. There's a reason he hasn't been a big performer before.

Fleener has seen his performance drop for four weeks in a row, and his receiving yards for five. After spending a few weeks looking like a viable fantasy starter, at this point Fleener is only a desperation play, not someone fantasy owners should rely on.
