The Jaguars are well out of the playoff race, so such a move is unsurprising. Shorts has been excellent for Jacksonville this season, catching 66 passes for 777 yards and three touchdowns. That's excellent for a little-known receiver catching passes from players like Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert.
Shorts was the leading receiver by far, with over 300 yards more than the second- and third-place receivers Justin Blackmon (who hardly played due to suspension, of course) and Ace Sanders.
At this point, him being shut down seems likely. There’s no reason for him to play at this point, and since the injury likely requires a surgery and a lengthy rehab, getting a two-week head start seems to make sense.
Fantasy Impact: It’s hard to imagine Shorts returning this season, let alone for the final fantasy matchups this week. He was inactive for Week 15 and at this point, he should be held only in dynasty leagues. He shouldn’t be started, even if there is a shot he’s active in Week 16.
