Fantasy football start/sit advice Week 16: Andy Dalton has high ceiling vs. Vikings
The Bengals seemingly get a mixed bag from Andy Dalton from week to week, but their signal caller is presented with a prime matchup versus the Minnesota Vikings. We break down the fantasy implications.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton continued his up-and-down fantasy season versus the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, this time with the trajectory aimed downward.
Dalton was erratic and under pressure for most of the evening before salvaging what was left of his stat line with a pair of second-half touchdowns. The Bengals’ signal caller has now matched his touchdown and interception totals from 2012, and he continues to post inconsistent totals from week to week. After a three-game string of throwing for 1,034 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions, Dalton has since averaged just 212 yards per game while throwing 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions in five games.
Fantasy Spin: If up-and-down is the theme of Dalton's career, fantasy owners would not be out of line to think Dalton can improve his play in Week 16 versus a leaky Minnesota Vikings secondary. No team has allowed more than the 31 passing touchdowns they have, and only the Dallas Cowboys have given up more yards through the air.
No fantasy owner wants to rely on Dalton for championship week, but if they are desperate for an option, Dalton presents plenty of upside. He is better suited for a bench spot in 10 or 12-team leagues, but makes for a high-end QB2 in dual-quarterback formats.
