Ryan Mathews injury update: RB probable, will play for fantasy owners
The Chargers running back is probable and will suit up in Week 16. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: In his first season without missing a single game, Mathews has quietly put together a solid fantasy campaign. Mathews has rushed 236 times for 1,012 yards (4.3 YPC) and five touchdowns, with one receiving touchdown as well. Quarterback Philip Rivers isn’t the only Charger benefiting from a new offensive scheme, as Mathews has passed 100 yards rushing five times this year. Injuries had been the biggest issue for Mathews in the past, as he has missed ten games in his four-year career. Those injury woes were expected to continue, and owners who drafted him in the mid-to-late rounds are seeing solid bang for their buck.
Mathews will take on a Raiders defense whose run defense is among the worst in the league. The former Fresno St. Bulldog has been a true workhorse, as he’s notched 29 carries in each of his last two games. With no other back in position to siphon a significant amount of carries, he’s safe to use as a high-upside RB2.
