Needing a win to stay in the thick of the race for the AFC’s six seed, the Dolphins laid an egg, leading to seven sacks of Tannehill. The quarterback had only 82 passing yards on 10 of 27 passing and put up his worst numbers of the season in almost every category: Fewest completions; fewest pass attempts; fewest pass yards; lowest completion percentage (37); lowest yards-per-attempt average (3.04); worst passer rating (45.6). He even had his fewest There was basically nothing redeeming about Tannehill’s Week 16 outing.
Fantasy impact: Tannehill came into Sunday’s game averaging 15.4 fantasy points per game, 20-plus points in three straight, and with his only sub-10-point game of the season being a nine-point outing in Week 4. Even against a good Buffalo defense, there was no reason to expect this abysmal performance, which even led to Tannehill briefly being relieved by backup Matt Moore when he was hurt in the fourth quarter.
In Week 17, the Dolphins host the New York Jets, which should put Tannehill back toward the good.
