Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said in a press conference on Thursday that he expects running back Eddie Lacy to start Sunday.
Eddie Lacy is expected to start Week 17 for Packers, fantasy owners
Speaking Thursday, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy offered encouraging words for Eddie Lacy’s status. We break down the fantasy implications.

Lacy has yet to practice with the team this week after reinjuring a sprained right ankle versus the Steelers during Week 16's matchup, but the rookie is expected to resume practicing on Friday. McCarthy reiterated that his feature back would not necessarily have to practice during the week in order to play on Sunday in a de facto NFC North title game versus the Chicago Bears.
Fantasy Spin: As long as Lacy takes the field, he is a must-start in fantasy leagues of all formats. Even at less than 100 percent, any running back would be fortunate enough to line up across from a Bears defense that has allowed 2,519 yards from scrimmage to the position this season.
Having Aaron Rodgers back in the lineup will take some of the burden off of Lacy, but versus a clearly vulnerable run defense, the Packers would be wise to feed their young running back. Lacy is firmly entrenched in RB1 territory if he plays.
