Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew returned to practice on Thursday.
Maurice Jones-Drew returns to practice for Jaguars, presents boom-or-bust appeal for fantasy owners
The Jaguars’ veteran tailback got in his first practice of the week on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Jaguars' feature back got in a limited session after resting his hamstring injury on Wednesday, which was to be expected. Jones-Drew suited up on Sunday after going nearly a full week without practice beforehand, so managing his reps is not out of the ordinary. Jones-Drew suffered his hamstring injury during the Jaguars' Thursday night matchup versus the Houston Texans in Week 14 and had not practiced with his team until last Friday.
Fantasy Spin: Returning to practice is an encouraging sign that Jones-Drew will suit up for the 2013 finale in what could be his last game in a Jaguars uniform. But in a nearer perspective, he will face an Indianapolis Colts team that held him to 23 yards on 13 carries during their first meeting, and at clearly less than 100 percent, Jones-Drew does not make for an inspiring start in fantasy leagues. Splitting time with Jordan Todman also does not bode well for his fantasy prospects.
With the Colts playing for playoff seeding, their focus will be on shutting down the veteran. Jones-Drew’s fantasy owners wouldn’t be unwise to do the same.
