Fantasy football projections, Week 17: Jets vs. Dolphins featuring Chris Ivory, Ryan Tannehill and Mike Wallace

The Week 17 contest between the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins features one team with playoff hopes and another team awaiting the offseason. We've got all the fantasy projections for you courtesy of numberFire.

New York Jets

Coach Rex Ryan stated earlier this week he fully expects to be fired by the Jets at the end of the season. An atrocious record, rookie quarterback, lack of receiving corps. or running game will go a long way towards looking for a new job if you're a coach. Geno Smith is probably still going to start for the team when next season starts, but he's still got much to prove. This year he went from early season sleeper to late season free agent in fantasy leagues because of how much he's struggled.

Smith's issues have left the Jets to rely a lot on their defense and the running game to stay in games. To say the least, the team struggles in every aspect of the game. If there is a bright spot for the Jets and fantasy owners, it's running back Chris Ivory. Ivory had his third 100-yard game of the season against the Cleveland Browns last week and he should be in for lots of opportunities in Week 17.

Miami Dolphins

Few would have given the Dolphins a chance to make the playoffs coming out of the AFC East, but if they beat the Jets this week, they could very well find themselves in the postseason. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill still isn’t consistent enough to be a fantasy star, but he has been better this year. He may be someone to keep on the radar as a QB2 in 2014.

Lately Tannehill has done a great job connecting with receiver Mike Wallace. Unfortunately, Wallace was off his game last week, catching four passes for just 38 yards. He’s a deep threat without a doubt, but doesn’t catch enough receptions on a weekly basis to be a dependable starter week-to-week. He’s a starter in deep leagues against the Jets.
